@drtarajamieson Welcome to a day in my life on the Cardiology Consult service! Cardiology is the specialty I was most excited about this year and it definitely did not disappoint. The difference between the consult service and the primary cardiology service is that children who are admitted to other parts of the hospital (ie. not the primary cardiac team), but have cardiac concerns are followed by the consult service. The consult service is also available to answer questions from other teams about if a child’s symptoms could be related to an underlying cardiac condition. Some cool cases that I got to see when I was on the consult team included a new murmur in an infant, a child with a complex cardiac history in the ICU for bronchiolitis, and chest pain in an adolescent.
